Ask yourself – are you using your brain power for better? In all honesty, are you truly utilising the tools you have been given in this lifetime? Take a moment to evaluate your life up until now. Spend some time in introspection and ask the question of yourself. The funny and awful thing about life is that it can suddenly be taken away or key aspects of it can. Whatever your age, the onus is on all of us to make it count. It is too easy to get stuck in a rut.Continue Reading

A good heart these days is hard to find and the most important one is your own. Amid the hustle and bustle of social media, forums, and online debate it is very easy to get wound up. To seethe and hate or mope and despair. To writhe in anger or anguish and rage against the dimming light of reason. Peace be upon you brother and sister. Fill your heart and soul with tranquil thoughts and healing energy. Thus spake Zarathustra. Well, perhaps not, but it is a fairly good idea, every now and then, to take a time-out from the fray.Continue Reading

Hands up who has heard of the term ‘downward envy’? Yes, this is the name for all those Aussies who think that everyone on welfare is a dole bludger. These people reckon that there are too many folk having a good time on less than $50 a day. You could not even pay your rent in Australia on that, let alone eat. Downward envy: What kind of Australian indulges in that? Bitter and twisted miserable bastards comes to mind. Unhappy people wanting to apportion blame onto others, also, springs to mind in this case.Continue Reading

Australian banks do not even have enough staff employed in their scam crisis emergency departments to take your call in a timely manner. Calling the Commonwealth Bank you can be on hold waiting to talk with someone about your disappearing money until it is too late. Scamming and Australian banks: The real story. The Big 4 Banks, ANZ, CBA, NAB, and Westpac won’t take responsibility for securing your money from scammers, despite the fact that they are supposed to be banks, first and foremost. In the old days, banks locked up your money and that is why you deposited your hard earned money there in the first place. Not today, banks are all about convenience and not security. They don’t offer any interest on your savings so what is the point of them. They skim off the top of every transaction, so, when your hard earned money is scammed from you, they don’t care, as they make money on the transaction anyway.Continue Reading

Robodebt disgrace: The legacy of the Coalition

Peter Dutton doesn’t give a f*** about First Nations’ Australians, as he is playing politics over the Voice to Parliament. Everything for Dutton and his Liberal Party mates is about getting back in power. They see the Voice as an Anthony Albanese initiative and want to defeat it on this basis. Dutton represents everything that is rotten about the Australian political setup. Peter Dutton is a disgrace. The Voice is not a Labor Party initiative, it is an Indigenous Australia proposal. The Uluru Statement from the Heart is not about politics, it is about recognition and a seat at the table for First Nations people. It is time for the dickheads to get out of the way and let progress happen. Younger Australians are sick of their racist past and would like to see something done about respecting and empowering First Nations Australians.Continue Reading

Football - Sherrin, circa 2001

They say that opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one. The question is whether there are some expert arseholes out there in media land. The AFL media landscape is largely populated by loud mouthed ex-footballers. These chaps have currency in the minds of the listening audience. Fans of the game want product associated with the game seven days a week it seems. These paid producers of content in the form of spurious leaked information and speculative opinion keep the home fires burning. They soon learn that the more controversial the material the more mileage they get out of it. Kane Cornes, David King and co. Therefore, much of what we hear in the footy meta sphere is pumped full of hot air. Coaches and the media: AFL sacrificial slaughter feeds the fans.Continue Reading

Imagine that your parent’s or grandparent’s house was invaded by bad men and their wealth and property was stolen. In addition, they were forced to work for these marauders, as were their children, without pay. Some time later on, you find yourself walking down the street and come across that house. It has been done up with lots of improvements and manicured gardens. Ask yourself how you would feel about the situation and the owners of the property now. These are the circumstances many Black people find themselves in. The progeny of gross injustices committed not so long ago in the bigger scheme of things. The profits of slavery and the recompense owed is something we need to talk about.Continue Reading

Badge - Vote Yes for Aborigines, Australia, 1967

Americans are famous for their depiction of white trash in debates about class and racism. Australia was, however, also the new world home for what was considered as the human rubbish of the old country. Places like America and Australia were deemed as destinations for economic refugees and convicts from Britain by those in the upper echelons of power and influence of that colonising empire. White trash and the Voice in Australia are something old and new coming into agonistic contact in 2023. The friction between lower class white Australia and Indigenous Australians is, however, nothing new.Continue Reading

Scott Morrison at Press Club

It has cost us, the Australian tax payers, $1.8 billion so far. Robodebt disgrace: The legacy of the Coalition government. The Royal Commission into the Robodebt scheme is being handed down today. The findings are being made public post haste. Peter Dutton, the leader of the Opposition, is calling this a political decision. The debacle and disgrace of this Coalition government scheme is like an albatross to hang around the necks of all those involved in its instigation and execution. It was illegal and they all knew that it was both illegal and wrong. It cost innocent and vulnerable people their lives.Continue Reading

It is time for all of us to wake up to the imminent dangers we currently face via the digital world. Did you know that more than 60% of what goes on via the internet is non-human? Yes, much of the conversation happening online especially on social media is with bots. All you lonely people out there, you are wasting your time communicating with machines on Twitter, Facebook, and the like. A lot of the traffic to various sites and pages is by machines. All those likes and retweets are, in large parts, by bots. The world wide web is predominantly populated by non-humans. AI will only make that figure grow exponentially.Continue Reading
