If you ever ask yourself, why is everything so expensive now? Why is parking at the airport so ridiculously costly? Surely it could not be justified on a purely economic basis? No, it can’t, it is about shareholder returns and asset managers.  It is about an economy controlled by private interests and not governments. Insurance premiums have been driving up prices across the board. The same game is being played here, as the insurers declare record profits. It is all about boosting share prices and ROI. Market forces are driving us all off a cliff and governments are doing diddly squat about it. They got out of the main game years ago. The puppet masters pull the strings and they are asset managers. The system no longer supports us at an equitable and fair level. American capitalism has eaten our lunch. The extreme shit we see around Donald Trump is more of this on steroids. It has, however, been happening for far longer, at least some 50 years.

This book explains some of the main causes driving the bus. If we continue to blithely let ourselves be pushed around by big companies and billionaires we are all going to end up in the dog house. Our politicians are less than useless, as they are operating out of yesterday’s perspective.

Why Is Is Everything So Pricey?

Our younger generations are getting royally screwed, economically, in the current climate. Rents are prohibitively expensive, having risen by 44% over the last few years. Buying a house means spending a million dollars. Higher education involves taking on a debt between $60K and upwards. This is then linked to the CPI, so if inflation continues this debt rises considerably. AI is fast approaching and that means way less white collar jobs. At the same time, the prices of everything have gone up consistently over the last 4 years.
