I find it morally repellent to see Richard Marles, the Australian Defence Minister, up there making joint statements with Trump flunkies like Pete Hegseth about AUKUS. Oh yeah, that is the deal where we get to pay $368 billion for the privilege of boosting naval building in the US and UK in the hope of purchasing some discards in the nuclear submarine line. No guarantees folks! Who is the schmuck in this deal? Yes, you guessed it the dumb Aussie. We are known around the world as the biggest losers, when it comes to gambling losses from corporate bookmakers and pokies. Someone saw us coming.

Our former PM, Scott Morrison, has been over in the US sucking on the teat of the military industrial complex. Filling his pockets after setting up the AUKUS deal in the first place, funny that coincidence. The biggest and most financially wasteful scams in history are defence spending deals. The gravy train is so large that the gravy boat must be oil tanker sized. Integrity may well be in short supply but self-aggrandizement is not. Entitlement comes in different sizes too. Ex-pollies take king sized boots to fill with their ill-gotten gains at the expense of the rest of us. Macro-corruption is the name for dodgy dealing of such enormous sums that the average person in the street cannot comprehend the crime. It is so far above their pay grade that they cannot see the white whale in their midst.
