The Australian media is directed by News Corp and its pro-American perspective. The assumption promulgated by the Murdoch press is that China is bad and the US is good. That the evil communists are threatening the world whilst America stands for all that is right. Of course, with Donald Trump in the White House this rationale is absurd. Unless you have been living in isolation for the last year you would know that Uncle Sam is on the nose in 2025. Trump has attacked, economically and verbally, America’s long standing allies. He has threatened Canada and Greenland with the spectre of some sort of invasion. Trump has seemingly backed Putin and the Russians in their illegal invasion of Ukraine. Meanwhile, China has been the bastion of peaceful stability in contrast with the turmoils of Trump’s United States.
News Corp Drives The Aussie Media Downunder
You would not know this if you were a Fox News or Sky News Australia viewer. Similarly, if you read The Australian or Daily Telegraph or any of Murdoch’s other capital city newspapers you would be none the wiser about the extreme shift in geopolitics that we are observing. This is why it is so disappointing to follow the Australian media directed by News Corp. Even the ABC, with its upper management and chairman overly influenced by Rupert’s agenda, follows the pro-American line. The Anglo-settler ethos runs deep in the veins of the Aussie press. Israel is good Arabs are bad. White skinned folk are intrinsically superior to brown skinned people. These cultural assumptions are defaults in the News Corp world view.
Pro-American Corporate Media In Oz
You would not know by the tone of the press downunder that the Australian people recently rejected the Trumpian radical right wing view of things in a landslide election defeat of Peter Dutton and the LNP. There is hardly a metropolitan seat left that is held by the Coalition federally. The LNP brought Donald Trump’s election campaign maestro downunder just prior to the federal election in the hope that he would help deliver a resounding victory for them. The outcome ended up as far from that as is feasible. The hardline Libs were trounced and Dutton even lost his seat. Still, the Murdoch media focused on the Greens and their poor showing in the lower house instead. Anything but face the truth for these grubs! The right wing press runs with the Trump fake news deflection of any facts they find inconvenient to their messaging.
Trump’s America Is A Human Rights Cesspit
In the US, human rights are being trampled upon with increasing regularity thanks to ICE. The crackdown on undocumented immigrants in America has seen masked ICE agents grabbing and beating individuals, many of whom have been living and working in the US for years. Indeed, American citizens and green card holders, who just happen to have brown skin, have been arrested and locked up in detention facilities without due process. Foreign academics teaching and studying legally in the US have been detained in these prisons for writing pro-Palestinian articles in the media. The land of the free is no more. Visitors to the US are being turned away at the borders if their social media feeds and posts have been critical of the Trump regime. America is in the hands of extremist right wing idealogues and functionaries. The latest Trump budget handed $160 billion to ICE, the border and customs force, over the next decade.

Australians Financially Abused By American Multinationals
The Australian media is directed by News Corp and its pro-American perspective. Thus, we still have the media beating war drums over China on behalf of the Americans. The lunatic fringe that is the Trump regime is bringing back economic inflation at a speed of knots via its crazy tariffs on everything and everyone – even an Australia which has a balance of trade in America’s favour. Get ready for a more expensive world thanks to the billionaires running the show for Trump. If we keep listening to this distorted pro-US view of the world we will remain an outpost for oligarchs and multinationals who wont even pay their fair share of tax downunder. The Googles, Microsofts, Meta, Apple, Pepsi, Amazon and all those American digital service companies who shift profits to avoid paying tax in Australia and globally. News Corp, of course, pays bugger all tax in Australia as well. We are the whipping boys and girls for American corporations.
“Tech start ups are worried about unfair competition and Australia stands to lose hundreds of millions of dollars in tax revenue. It comes after Donald Trump pressured G7 countries to exempt US tech giants from a 15 per cent minimum corporate tax rate. “

Time To Clean Up The Media In Oz
We need to demand that our media reflects our values and not those of America. News Corp is a disgrace and has been for decades. All the rest follow them like sheep. Careerism means that journalists and management in the media rarely speak up against the interests of the powerful elite like the Murdoch family. Do yourself a favour and tune out from the legacy media and find more trustworthy independent sources. Convenience is a disease in the digital age and it delivers pro-American poison in this instance. Australia needs to stand up for itself and stop sucking up to the US. Their mining companies exploit our resources without paying reasonable amounts of tax on their massive profits generated here. Our political class betray our interests via dealmaking favouring these multinationals and they do it in return for personal and political gain. These are the elites screwing us downunder. The Australian media is directed by News Corp and its pro-American perspective.
“Have you ever asked yourself, as an Australian, why our leaders make such bad deals on our behalf? Why don’t the gas companies mining our gas pay taxes and royalties equivalent to the billions they make from selling our national resource? Is it corruption or the result of their inadequacy? The little men leading Australia: Astray. The emerging contract details around AUKUS only reinforce this woeful deal making by our politicians and bureaucrats when dealing with international representatives. Is it the result of long standing national low self-esteem, gullibility, corrupt practices or a combination of all of these elements? Whatever it is, they are seriously underselling Australia and letting us all down at the big table where these things are negotiated.”
“What shared values does Australia have with a political system that is increasingly a house-of-horrors version of democracy, led by a snarling carny barker with a criminal record? There’s no shared commitment to democracy — Trump tried to stage a coup in 2021 and Republicans have protected him ever since. There’s no shared commitment to the rule of law in a country where the Supreme Court has been stacked by Trump and acts as his judicial praetorian guard. There’s no shared commitment to human rights, given the sustained oppression of women, African Americans and migrants. There’s no shared commitment to more nebulous ideas such as governments providing a safety net for its citizens, or living up to agreements made in good faith, or not intervening in the affairs of other countries, or that we all benefit from a stable global trading system.”
