A World Chock Full Of Corporate Concentration

For many decades, America has been the cultural Capitol of the world. The super power led the way via popular culture – movies, music and celebrities pumped out an influential message across the globe. Corporations quickly cashed in and expanded the merchandising opportunities. Now, we live in a world chock full of corporate concentration. Just 5 companies control more than 90% of the major media platforms in the United States. That means that a few individuals are holding the reins of power when it comes to what we watch on screens. Most folk spend more than 10 hours per day watching screens.Continue Reading

Why Are Labor Governments So Gutless?

The collapse of the Adelaide Writer’s Festival brings into stark relief the cowardly actions of governments and public boards in Australia in the face of Zionist threats. Pro-Israel influencers in the legal sphere are running censorship campaigns to control who has a voice in Australian cultural life. South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas is the latest leader to kow tow to Zionist pressure in having Palestinian Australian writer Randa Abdel-Fattah removed from the Adelaide Writer’s Festival lineup for 2026. This has resulted in 4 board members resigning and hundreds of writers pulling out of the biggest writer’s festival in Australia. Why are Labor governments so gutless?Continue Reading

Truth Social & Donald Trump

Authoritarians and their regimes like to spell shit out for their subjects. Some of you older folk may remember that the USSR had a news organisation/newspaper called Pravda. This was the official platform of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Pravda meant truth and many of us in the west used to roll our eyes at what passed for truth and facts over there. Now, we have Truth Social and Donald Trump in America. The parallels are pretty frightening in this post-truth world. The thing is that people are getting dumber and that naming something like this is enough for the unquestioning among us. Irony is a rare commodity in the United States in the 21C, perhaps more so than these rare earths the Donald goes on about so often.Continue Reading

Australian Media Directed By News Corp

The Australian media is directed by News Corp and its pro-American perspective. The assumption promulgated by the Murdoch press is that China is bad and the US is good. That the evil communists are threatening the world whilst America stands for all that is right. Of course, with Donald Trump in the White House this rationale is absurd. Unless you have been living in isolation for the last year you would know that Uncle Sam is on the nose in 2025. Trump has attacked, economically and verbally, America’s long standing allies. He has threatened Canada and Greenland with the spectre of some sort of invasion. Trump has seemingly backed Putin and the Russians in their illegal invasion of Ukraine. Meanwhile, China has been the bastion of peaceful stability in contrast with the turmoils of Trump’s United States.Continue Reading

Time To Get Murdoch Press Out Of Australia

It is time to rid our shores of the Murdoch controlled News Corp and their unbalanced political fiction factory. Do we want lies and disinformation in our media downunder? For too long Rupert Murdoch has held sway over our newspapers, radio networks and TV news. News Corp sets the agenda in Australian current affairs and yet is the most right wing biased news source in the country. Most recently, Australians rejected the Temu Trump led Coalition of Libs and Nats at the federal election. Australian cities voted in droves to reject the Donald Trump inspired politics of hate and divisiveness.Continue Reading

American cop shoots Australian journalist in LA. The LA immigration riot was the setting of  what looked like a deliberate act by an LAPD officer firing upon and hitting a Channel Nine journalist with a rubber bullet. Is this an act of war? Extremist American cop firing on a member of the press in a scene reminiscent of what is happening in Israel. The action showed a complete lack o f respect for the role of the international media covering an event of this magnitude. It is just another indication of the depths to which the United States has fallen over recent years.Continue Reading

Original Sin is a provocative title for Jake Tapper’s and Alex Thompson’s new book about former President Joe Biden. It alleges that a cover up of sorts took place to largely hide the mental incapacity of Biden for great chunks of his time at the top. Now, the Trump Republican opposition and Fox News continually pointed the finger at Biden’s age as a problem during his time in office – so it was not some big secret. However, it was denied by the Democrats and the White House in particular. Joe Biden’s original sin. The zombie like performance in the June 2024 presidential debate against Donald Trump confirmed the worst fears of some in the Democrat camp that Joe Biden was too old and mentally unfit to go again. Public pressure was brought to bear and Biden pulled out.Continue Reading

Paul Keating

It was refreshing and darn right funny to watch Paul Keating give a good old dressing down to the press gallery over China fears. It showed clearly how journalism in Australia is in a parlous state. Paul Keating reminds us we are Australians. Youngsters brought up in the halls of Murdoch’s News Corp with no breadth of knowledge or experience to draw upon. All of them singing from the same song sheet about the dangers of China. Keating pointed out how much American interests drive this fear mongering. The Americans don’t like the fact that another powerhouse has risen to challenge their hegemony. You cannot escape from the ingrained racism underpinning the China debate in this country and in all western nations.Continue Reading

Australia has been locked into a cycle of inaction around the major issues facing the nation. Manipulation of the political system by vested interests on climate change and inequality has seen little progress achieved on these important matters affecting the nation. Conflicts of interest in Australia are entrenched within media and government. A lack of transparency around political influence within the two party preferred system remains the elephant in the room. On top of this, the loudest voice in the room via media interest is the Murdoch news organisation with its monopoly of newspapers across the land. Murdoch is a rabid right wing media mogul, as seen by the content on his Fox News and Sky News Australia TV networks. Objective coverage of the news is so far from what viewers get via the Murdoch press it would be laughable if it wasn’t such a serious concern for the country.Continue Reading

The results of the recent federal election surprised an out of touch Australian media. The success of the Greens and the Teal tidal wave bowled over a largely conservative media in this country. The ABC has been cowed by 9 years of LNP governments and their threats to gut their organisation. Those who make up the members of the Australian media are largely conservative in their own views and professional behaviour. The Greens were pretty much ignored by the mainstream media in the lead up to this election. The Teal independents were challenged on their status by a media driven by conservative attitudes and strategies. Continue Reading
