One Nation Has Sung The Praises Of Donald Trump

I observed an older white woman proselytising about One Nation to another woman of her vintage at the local shopping centre the other day. I did not listen closely enough to pick up on the details of the diatribe. It got me thinking about this spread of disinformation being funded by billionaire sponsor Gina Rinehart and those of her ilk. Pauline Hanson, the leader of One Nation has sung the praises of Donald Trump and visited Mara Lago, quite recently. Pauline has, for all her time in parliament, rarely been in government. She has been a fringe player and outsider looking on. There are parallels here with the administration of President Donald Trump, in that nearly all of his cabinet are similarly inexperienced outsiders.

One Nation’s Promised Quick Fixes Will Never Eventuate

There are plenty of Australians looking on at governments and wanting change. Most of them do not understand the dynamics and legalities of how parliament and government functions. They may be frustrated at what they see and where they find themselves economically. My advice would be, however, to be careful what you wish for. The Trump administration is a chaotic, cruel and incompetent government. The illegal application of tariffs on just about every nation around the world has been a disaster. The brutal immigration crackdown by ICE has been murderous and carried out violently and carelessly. The US attacks on Iran has created the worst energy shock globally ever, as the Strait of Hormuz is predictably now closed to shipping. Inflation and unemployment are rising at home and in America. Things do not look good and poor leadership will only make them much worse.

Far Right Governments Come With Corruption

The rise in popularity of One Nation may be a protest vote but putting crackpots, extremists and inexperienced people into power is a recipe for further disaster. Small political parties with few strings to their bows do not make for good governing parties. White supremacy, racism and xenophobia are not characteristics of healthy populations or places. Anti-immigration policies may appear to be vote winning strategies but they do not make for positive governance. Right wing parties may drum up support on the back of exaggerating crime statistics, blaming economic woes on immigration numbers, and emphasising the pet hates of xenophobic Australians, but none of these things will make a better Australia. In addition, Far Right political parties are often funded by greedy rich people wanting more deregulation so they can exploit the system. Gina Rinehart and her ilk. Pauline Hanson’s One Nation has sung the praises of Donald Trump.

Australia’s Unfair Taxation System Is Sucking Workers Dry

Economically it is not migrants making things harder for working Aussies, it is the unfair and uneven taxation  of income but not assets. The fact that many very wealthy Australians avoid paying tax via clever accounting and things like family trusts. The fact that a third of all companies trading in Australia do not pay any tax at all on their incomes. The fact that American multinationals like the Big Tech giants Google (Alphabet), Meta, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Uber and others do not pay their fair share of tax downunder. They do this by shifting profits to tax havens via IP charges to drastically reduce their balance sheet profits on billions of dollars of revenue. The local media sector has had  its revenue gutted by advertising dollars going to these Big Tech giants but Australia gets bugger all tax revenue in return from them. Successive federal governments have been unsuccessful in doing something about this. President Donald Trump supports the Big Tech oligarchy and has derailed European attempts at instigating digital service fees on Big Tech. One Nation, of course, sings the praises of Donald Trump. Trump has the backing of the Epstein billionaire class around the world – they have got much richer off his efforts so far. In reality, a vote for One Nation is a vote for Trump and his extreme right wing agenda. Lawlessness, chaos, kleptocracy and cruelty flourish under these Far Right regimes.

One Nation Sells Hate & Not Real Solutions

There are no easy or quick fixes for Australia or anywhere else around the globe. Blaming stuff on immigrants and other vulnerable groups is not going to hold water if you want a real solution. One Nation has sung the praises of Donald Trump and look how that is going for the world right now. Petrol prices sky high, which means higher transport costs, which delivers higher food prices and other cost of living increases. Thanks President Trump. Inflation is already rising and the RBA is raising interest rates once more. It is greedy rich people wanting more power that makes everything more expensive and it is ordinary folk who must pay the price. Going around and attacking other Australians because of their ethnicity will only make things worse. One Nation sells hate, not real solutions to complex issues. Check out the parliamentary voting record of Pauline Hanson if you want to see the true nature of One Nation.

Murdoch’s Lies & The Right Wing Media

“We have just witnessed Israel destroy an entire city, Gaza, on the justification of 1200 Israeli deaths by Hamas. More than 70, 000 Palestinians, men, women and children, have been killed in this declared genocide by the United Nations. In Australia, the right wing legacy media, News Corp led, painted a pro-Israel picture of suffering throughout this conflict, despite the facts not backing up that story. Right wing politics is not interested in abiding by facts and enjoys this post-truth Trumpian world.”

One Nation Lies & Misinformation

“The One Nation strategy of deliberately blurring the boundaries between satire and misinformation has been called out by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC). On April 29, the AEC made a formal complaint to Facebook and TikTok regarding Episode 24 of One Nation’s cartoon series “Please Explain”.

The platforms subsequently took down the video. The episode had falsely portrayed federal Labor Party MPs discussing plans to boost their votes in the election with fake postal ballots. The video also included the false claim that the 2010 election, which led to a minority government, was won by individual electors submitting multiple ballots.”
