The ABC program 4 Corners has shone a light upon further mistreatment and exploitation of Australia’s disabled population. The lax and low standards inherent in many Australian initiatives seemingly invites in unscrupulous people and organisations to profit from the misery of others. The NDIS is the perfect example of this, with so many politicians patting themselves on the back for such a fine effort in this space. We white folk live in a cocoon of well-off whiteness. We wander our white streets in search for bargain based happiness. Our mainly white suburbs buzz with the sound of expensive cars making their way to and fro from homes to high streets. Shopping centres are palaces of well-appointed materialism, where we frequent for retail therapy. Lives are lived with the sole purpose of endowering ourselves and offspring with wealth and comfort. It is not a bad lot for the most part, indeed, we share the good life in pursuit of reasonable amounts of pleasure. Only 1 in 6 Aussies interact with an Indigenous Australian. What does that say about Australia? Some of us white folk are doing it tough right now, but doing it tough when you are Aboriginal is another league all together. Australia’s most popular prime minister, Bob Hawke, tried to deliver a treaty with Aboriginal people back in 1988. Bob Hawke and a promise of Aboriginal treaty. He was unsuccessful because he could not get bipartisan support for a treaty from his colleagues back in Canberra. John Howard opposed the idea of a treaty in 1988 and remains opposed to the Voice today. What is the common theme here? Liberal Party of Australia leaders opposing official recognition of First Nation’s Australians. Peter Dutton carries that conservative racist flag today. The idea that all Aboriginal people should fall into line with a modern European/British conception of what it means to be Australian is called assimilation.Continue Reading

Peter Dutton doesn’t give a f*** about First Nations’ Australians, as he is playing politics over the Voice to Parliament. Everything for Dutton and his Liberal Party mates is about getting back in power. They see the Voice as an Anthony Albanese initiative and want to defeat it on this basis. Dutton represents everything that is rotten about the Australian political setup. Peter Dutton is a disgrace. The Voice is not a Labor Party initiative, it is an Indigenous Australia proposal. The Uluru Statement from the Heart is not about politics, it is about recognition and a seat at the table for First Nations people. It is time for the dickheads to get out of the way and let progress happen. Time to get Murdoch press out of Australia. Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp is the company behind Fox News, a blatant propaganda machine for right wing politics that was recently sued for peddling false information to its viewers. Fox settled for a billion dollars; money is the only measure of justice in America. Sky News Australia is modelled on Fox News and peddles the same vitriolic lies about centre-left politics downunder. The Australian newspaper, similarly, provides unbalanced editorial skewered to the hard right. Climate change deniers thrive inside News Corp’s programs and papers. Does Peter Dutton still think he is a cop? Somebody should remind him that he is the leader of the opposition.
