How can you have a candidate running for office in an election who continually claims that the electoral system has been defrauded? Surely, all candidates must respect the electoral process publicly? If a candidate is undermining the democratic basis of the electoral system it must make him or her unfit to stand. Democratic elections stand against tyranny. America is deficient in its laws governing the character and behaviour of those taking part in presidential elections. Trump has been allowed to go about falsely claiming that he won the 2020 election but was cheated out of office. Numerous enquiries have found no evidence for this. These include investigations paid for by his own legal team. There was no defrauding of the election – it is the big lie!
Trump Ineligible To Stand For President In Colorado
Finally, Donald J Trump has been declared by the Colorado supreme court to be ineligible to be on the 2024 presidential ballot in that state. This is according to article 3 of the 14th amendment of the US Constitution.
“No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.”
Trump is an insurrectionist by any definition of the matter, following his part in inciting the January 6th storming of the Capitol by his supporters and the militias, the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers. This was an organised attempt to take over the seat of government by armed insurrectionists. Police died defending the Capitol.
Democracy vs Autocracy
I always thought that Americans valued liberty and personal freedoms. Trump supporters, those under the spell of the Trump cult, seem happy to trade these away. It appears, that they think it better to live under a dictator than allow a diversity of Americans to flourish in the 21C. White supremacists want their dominant societal position to be doubly recognised under Trump. Make America great again is code for turning back the clock to a time when women were under the thumb, gay people were shunned, and blacks living like second class citizens under an apartheid system. The GOP has lost its way and no longer qualifies to represent America as one of the two main parties. It is in the hands of extremists and anarchists.
Trump Is A Liar & A Criminal
I return to the fact that you cannot have a candidate in the race who does not respect the electoral process. The laws must be changed to reflect this basic truth. Trump has undermined the whole democratic system through his lies about the 2020 presidential election. Donald J Trump is a criminal who has been gaming the system for years. He has been found guilty for defrauding the state of New York in a civil case and awaits the costs and punishment to be awarded against his organisation. In another civil case he has been found to have raped a woman and defamed her. Trump has been indicted on criminal charges and awaits these court cases to be tried in 2024. In Georgia he is being tried for electoral interference.
“Former US President Donald Trump has been arrested on 13 charges in Georgia for his alleged efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss in the state.
The 98-page indictment, issued on 14 August, claims that Mr Trump “unlawfully conspired” to change the election outcome while participating in a “criminal enterprise”.
Other charges include false claims of election fraud and solicitation of violation of oath.”
Trump is on further federal indictments related to election interference and for taking classified documents after he was defeated in the 2020 election.
“Trump’s third indictment is a result of special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into alleged efforts by the former president and his allies to overturn the 2020 election. The indictment alleges Trump and a co-conspirator “attempted to exploit the violence and chaos at the Capitol by calling lawmakers to convince them … to delay the certification” of the election. It also alleges another co-conspirator pushed then-Vice President Mike Pence to “violate the law” to delay President Joe Biden’s victory. The Trump campaign released a statement shortly after the indictment denying the allegations.
Trump was indicted in June 2023 by a federal grand jury in Miami for taking classified national defense documents from the White House after he left office and resisting the government’s attempts to retrieve the materials.”
In New York state, Trump is, also, indicted in regard to:
“Trump is accused of falsifying business records in connection with a payoff to Stormy Daniels, a porn star who claimed she had a sexual encounter with him. By buying Daniels’ silence, the payoff avoided a possible sex scandal in the final weeks of the 2016 presidential campaign. Michael Cohen, Trump’s personal attorney and “fixer” at the time, paid $130,000 to Daniels in October 2016, according to prosecutors. Then, while in the White House, Trump reimbursed Cohen in a series of installment payments processed by Trump’s company. Prosecutors say Trump fraudulently disguised those installments as corporate legal expenses in violation of New York law.”
The loud mouth, racist, Trump is, it seems apparent, going to get his just desserts by the look of things. It is, however, an indictment on American justice that it has taken this long for things to have caught up with him. Wealthy, white, and politically powerful makes you immune from prosecution in the US, it seems, by the available evidence. All those people backing Trump would be better served questioning their own sense of what is right and wrong. If they want to live in a world where crooks flourish at the expense of ordinary people – why don’t they move to Russia.
The underbelly of America is the racist shadow of their slave nation past. The ghosts of the confederacy brough forth the Ku Klux Klan and the lynchings of African Americans for many years. It is a vile testament to the character of these Americans.
The populist Trump is making campaign speeches about illegal immigrants poisoning the blood of the nation. These references to Adolf Hitler and Mein Kampf expand upon the fascist nature of the leading Republican presidential candidate for 2024. Some supporters might say these are only words, but most things start with words. Hitler started his rise with speeches and ended his misanthropy with the extermination of 6 million Jews and many millions of other innocent folk. America is headed for a fall, especially if Americans continue to back Donald Trump.
