Does Peter Dutton still think he is a cop? Somebody should remind him that he is the leader of the opposition. Dutton the dog whistling ex-cop busy in Alice Springs turning the clock back to drum up negative coverage of Indigenous Australians. Funnily enough during his 10 years in government the law and order issues in Alice Springs were not on his radar. Playing politics is a Liberal Party playbook speciality. We have seen it with climate change. The issues in regional Australia are a direct result of the neglect of services in these townships and camps over decades.Continue Reading

Sydney Swans’ Serial Neglect Of Ruck Stocks

AFL premiership sides boast first string rucks more often than not. The Sydney Swans serial neglect of ruck stocks has cost them flags, in my view. Once again, the club finds itself thin on the ground when it comes to quality big men. Watching the games this year and the season last year the Swans lack of top quality ruckmen has been apparent. This has been going on for too many years and reflects a blind spot  when it comes to recruiting and developing big men. Peter Ladhams is developing and will get better but the Swans need more depth.Continue Reading

Recent research published by The Australia Institute confirms that the decade 2009-2019 was the most inequitable, in terms of wealth-growth-share, in Australia’s history. A decade overseen by the Coalition of Liberals and Nationals on the federal stage. A mining boom and surging  property market has rocketed 90% of new wealth growth into the hands of the top 10% of earners and owners in Australia during this period. Australia fast becoming one of the most inequitable nations on earth should not surprise many, as they have supported policies pushing the nation in this direction.Continue Reading

Federal government rumoured to ban consumption of Chinese food by all of its employees. This move follows concerns with the potential infiltration of government agencies by China. National security worries have grown exponentially in recent years. It is thought that public servants in sensitive departments could be coerced through culinary means. It follows an observed rise in the consumption of Oriental delicacies, especially at lunchtime. Pink stained collars and ties in government offices are not uncommon following servings of sweet and sour pork. A proliferation of used chop sticks have been found, according to waste management operatives employed in the Capital.Continue Reading

Understanding how banks work is an eye opener for most people. Did you know that up until 1844 in Britain banks in the UK printed their own paper cash money – these were called bank notes, of course. Banks still today make their own money. Every time someone borrows money from a bank the bank extends credit by creating money in that person’s account by pushing a button. No physical money is actually created. The debt creates that money and when the loan is paid back that money ceases to exist. The banks pockets the interest charged on the loan and erases the debt. That digitally created money disappears from the system. Understanding how banks operate: Money and debt.Continue Reading

Paul Keating

It was refreshing and darn right funny to watch Paul Keating give a good old dressing down to the press gallery over China fears. It showed clearly how journalism in Australia is in a parlous state. Paul Keating reminds us we are Australians. Youngsters brought up in the halls of Murdoch’s News Corp with no breadth of knowledge or experience to draw upon. All of them singing from the same song sheet about the dangers of China. Keating pointed out how much American interests drive this fear mongering. The Americans don’t like the fact that another powerhouse has risen to challenge their hegemony. You cannot escape from the ingrained racism underpinning the China debate in this country and in all western nations.Continue Reading

Yes, the f***wits are back on our screens. Those boofheaded jokers pretending to be men of the people. In reality, representing corporate bookies fleecing us of our money. The punt has become a major revenue stream for global corporations. Australians waste more money on the punt than most other nations. Australia has the highest rate of gambling per population in the world. Blokes doing boofy stunts on screens to charm the dosh from your pockets and into the coffers of corporate gambling behemoths. Hey buddy, the jokes on you. These companies are coming for Australians because we have a reputation of fools and their money being easily parted.Continue Reading

If institutional injustice makes you mad this episode had it in spades. Robodebt: What the Royal Commission revealed to us. A government and a bunch of ministers who saw themselves as ‘welfare cops’, with a duty to shake down the most vulnerable among us. Without fear or favour these sheriffs took on pensioners, disabled Australians, and those down on their luck. They applied income averaging to make it look like these people on the bones of their arse were rorting the system. It played well to those who are always looking for someone to blame for their own financial frustrations. Continue Reading

Support The Voice to help Indigenous Australians be heard

There is broad support for the Indigenous Voice To Parliament within Australia. A majority of the population know that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders have been less than well served by the nation over the journey. We can all do a lot better if their voice is heard at the heart of parliament when decisions are made affecting their lives and future. It is a no brainer really. Support The Voice to help Indigenous Australians be heard in the halls of power and right around the country. Decades of ineffectual leadership and waste are on record in this space at the federal and state levels. There has been a lack of real commitment within governments to facilitate the substantial improvements required for first nation’s people in terms of health, quality of life, education, economic wealth, and life expectancy. Lip service has been paid to the problems but not much else.Continue Reading

The rise of cybercrime: The widening gap between rich and poor is in direct correlation. We have been warned that the continuing divide and expanding inequality within our societies will spawn a violent breakdown of law and order. The proliferation of scams and identity theft is the forerunner of this societal upheaval. Scammers and hackers depend upon there being plenty of dissatisfied folk ready to cross the line to better their lot. If we continue to allow the wealthy to feather their nests, at the expense of the majority, via manipulation of our democratic governments things are only going to get worse.Continue Reading
